Gratuities Policy

Service Charge and Gratuities Policy

All gratuities (both in cash and credit card) and service charges are shared weekly, in full, amongst all the staff that physically work in the premises, after -where applicable- merchant charges and VAT are deducted, pro-rata, in compliance with Irish Law. All gratuities and service charges are paid on top and separate of each employee’s contractual wages.

Each employee’s share of the gratuities and service charge is calculated depending on their hours worked, experience, seniority, role, and responsibility. Other criteria are also considered, and the individual share can change and there is no timeframe as each person’s work performance improves at different timeframes.

Credit card gratuities and service charge are indicated separately in employee’s payslips, and every staff member pays Income Tax, PRSI, and USC on these, depending on their personal income tax status.

We are proud to confirm that this policy has been in place in Urban Brewing well before any legislation has come into effect.
